Principles of Epigenetics and Genomics

The lectures provide an overview of epigenetic concepts and their relevance for human biology. Following an introduction into basic mechanisms and enzymology of epigenetic control we will discus the developmental aspects of epigenetic modifications, particularly their importance for cell fate maintenance and cell function. Following a summary of disease related aspects the last four lectures will introduce into epigenomic mapping technologies, the basic principles of epigenetic data production, data management and data interpretation.

Audience: Master Students of bioinformatics (biotechnology, biophysics and pharmacy). Basic knowledge in molecular genetics is essential! The lectures will be held together with the Biology Master Students participating in the ADV-I module. Please register in the University LSF before November, 5th !

Please be present at Bld.A1.7 at least 15 min prior to the start of the exam. Keep a distance of at least 1.5m when you enter or leave the building or the lecture hall. Chairs are labeled indicating the places to sit. It is obligate to wear a mouth mask when you enter or leave the building, lecture hall or the toilet rooms. There is no obligation to wear the mouth masks when writing the exam in the lecture hall.
